How everything started
Q: How did the business begin?
Sudhanva Rajashekara: “LaundryHeap started back in 2014 in London with just our two founders working out of a small 100-square-foot office. They managed everything themselves — from managing partner drivers to handling laundry facilities. It was truly a two-man army in the beginning, and from there, we slowly built the team and expanded into other markets.”
Q: What do you think made LaundryHeap successful as a business?
Sudhanva Rajashekara: “People often think success came easy, but it’s been anything but that. We’ve had tough moments, like stepping out of Boston after our first attempt. What really made us successful was persistence, strategic decision-making, and having a strong partner ecosystem. Having partners like Metrobi, who supported us as we scaled, has been a big part of that journey.”
Q: When was your proudest moment?
Sudhanva Rajashekara: “I would say the proudest moment for us was during COVID-19. Despite losing more than 50% of our business overnight, our leadership kept everyone’s morale high, ensured no one’s salary was cut, and we pushed through the uncertainty. By the end of 2020, we had one of the strongest periods of growth in the company’s history. That resilience is something we’re very proud of.”
