Q: How did the business begin?
Amanda Israel:“It started with small events—mostly drop-offs for family gatherings and holiday meals. Over time, it grew into what became Deluxe Catering. Now we do everything from one-person meals to 800-guest galas.”
Q: What do you think made Deluxe Catering successful as a business?
Amanda Israel: “There isn’t much kosher catering competition in Philly, especially for full-service events. We found our niche by necessity, but it works—we serve a specific need with quality and consistency.”
Q: When was your proudest moment?
Amanda Israel: “Buying our current commissary space was a huge milestone. It made us feel like we leveled up and could compete with the big players. But honestly, the small one-off deliveries are just as important—they carry us through slow seasons and keep us connected to the community.”
