How everything started
Q: How did your business begin?
Miranda: “Flour Power started as a pop-up in our college apartment while Lauren and I were still in school. We’d bake cakes and small orders for parties, working from our apartment kitchen and later from our parents’ houses on weekends. When the pandemic hit, we quickly pivoted to offer products like ‘birthday in a box’ for people celebrating at home, and from there, our business really took off.”
Q: What do you think made Flour Power successful as a business?
Miranda: “I think our success comes from being adaptable and staying close to our community’s needs. We brought a unique style and warmth to a family-oriented area that was really looking for something new. Our dedication to quality, creativity, and connecting with our customers has helped us grow in ways we never expected.”
Q: When was your proudest moment?
Miranda: “There are two moments that really stand out. One was when we made Martha Stewart’s birthday cake. We actually attended the party, and she tried the cake and said, ‘Ooh, that’s delicious!’ I looked at Lauren and thought, ‘I could die happy right now—pull the plug, I’m good.’ I was genuinely starstruck; Martha was so nice, and it was a beautiful event. Posting about it online was surreal because everyone was like, ‘Wait, how did this happen?’ It was such a cool experience. The second was being featured in Vogue Weddings this year for a unique, really cool cake we designed. Both moments were huge highlights for us.”
What are your favorite things about Metrobi?
