Introducing Zucker's Bagels !
The business
Meet Zucker's Bagels
Zucker’s Bagels was founded in 2007 in Tribeca by Matt Pomeranz, named after his late mother, Roz Zucker Pomeranz. His longtime friend and former Deloitte and Merrill Lynch colleague Dan Pace later joined as partner to help grow the brand.
Today Zucker’s runs seven stores across Manhattan and considers itself the best bagel name in the city. Beyond its shops, Zucker’s offers retail delivery, catering, wholesale and frozen bagels carried in hundreds of supermarkets, and ships to all 50 states through Goldbelly, where it ranks as the number one bagel.
Corporate catering is a large and growing part of the business. For Zucker’s, it all comes down to the same mission as the stores: making people happy with the highest quality food, great coffee and service that matches.

Challenge
Zucker’s had always handled catering delivery in-house, with experienced bike couriers working out of its seven Manhattan stores. That model works well within Manhattan, but it couldn’t reach corporate catering customers in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or New Jersey. Outsourcing delivery was a big step for a brand where every drop-off reflects on its reputation.
Solution
Metrobi gave Zucker’s a high-touch catering delivery system: before and after photos, live driver tracking and clear communication with both Zucker’s and the customer. A dedicated account coordinator helped build a curated list of preferred drivers, so the same reliable people handle Zucker’s orders, with fast support whenever something comes up.
Result
Zucker’s expanded corporate catering beyond Manhattan to Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and New Jersey, and now also uses Metrobi for larger Manhattan orders. With delivery handled, Zucker’s aims to double or triple its catering business over the next year.
The Challenge
Why did Zucker's need a new delivery solution?
Zucker’s had never outsourced catering delivery. Its bike couriers are experienced, well paid and rarely leave, and they cover Manhattan well. But corporate catering demand was growing outside that zone, and there was no reason Zucker’s shouldn’t serve customers in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and New Jersey.
The challenge was finding a delivery partner that matched how Zucker’s presents itself. In catering, timing and client contact matter, and one bad drop-off can lose a customer the team worked hard to win. Zucker’s evaluates every partner carefully, from its coffee partner Irving Farms to its smoked fish suppliers, and delivery had to meet the same bar.
The solution
How does Zucker's manage catering delivery with Metrobi?
Metrobi brings catering delivery up to the standard customers already expect from retail delivery. Every order includes a photo at pickup and drop-off, live tracking and automated updates, so the Zucker’s team doesn’t have to chase drivers to find out where an order is.
Metrobi also helped Zucker’s build a curated list of preferred drivers. Zucker’s pays the initial delivery bid and then adds a tip that can be one to three times the bid, so good drivers become regulars. A dedicated account coordinator, backed by a responsive support team, keeps communication fast.
The results
What changed for Zucker's after switching to Metrobi?
Zucker’s now delivers corporate catering across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and New Jersey, and uses Metrobi in Manhattan for bigger orders instead of sending two bike couriers. Deliveries and customer communication have gone smoothly, protecting the relationships Zucker’s has built.
With delivery no longer a limit, the team is focused on marketing and aims to double or triple its catering business over the next year, with more growth planned into 2027.
In their words
On what makes Metrobi different
"Metrobi pairs a great system with real service. Way too many businesses try to eliminate the service side, and Metrobi doesn't. That combination is a winning combination."
On protecting the brand
"Even with a third party, every delivery reflects back on us as a brand. Before and after photos and live tracking mean there's no chasing around trying to find the driver."
On the hands-on support
"We have a dedicated service coordinator, and when she's not in, someone gets back to us promptly. In a business where time and client contact matter, that's a big deal."
