How everything started
Q: How did the business begin?
Ralph Primo: “My mom and dad started the business in 1956. They were looking to buy a house, but when the deal fell through, they stumbled upon a donut shop. Without much planning, my dad ran inside, and next thing you know, they became entrepreneurs. They worked hard, got involved in the community, and built something special.”
Q: What do you think made Primo’s Donuts successful as a business?
Ralph Primo: “The love that people have for it. On a Saturday, you’ll see a grandfather walk in with his grandchild and say, ‘My grandfather used to bring me here when I was his age.’ We’ve had four generations of families come through our doors. We’ve built a strong connection with the community, and that’s what has kept us going.”
Q: When was your proudest moment?
Ralph Primo: “Taking over the business to honor my parents’ legacy. I wanted them to see how much love people have for what they built. My dad passed away last year, and my mom isn’t doing too well, but they got to witness the success, the write-ups, and even TV crews covering our anniversary. That means everything to me.”
